Color Scheme Ideas for Heritage Scrapbooking

One of the hardest parts of creating a digital scrapbook is choosing the right color combinations. I’m not a graphic artist per se, so I love it when I can find resources to help me identify which colors come together nicely. I have found a website that I LOVE.

The Color Combinations website is primarily used for selecting carpet and paint colors for a home. However, color schemes and color palettes that work well in nature work well in home decor. And color palettes that work well in nature and the home often work well in scrapbooking.

Here is just a sampling of color schemes that I found on the website that could help select a color scheme for a heritage album. Using these color palettes as a guide will help you pick coordinating papers and embellishments that will enhance your family history album.

ColorCombo 295 uses browns and pinks.
Green Heritage Scrapbook Color Scheme
ColorCombo 287 uses monochromatic greens.
Tan Color Scheme
ColorCombo 191 uses tan and gray.
olorComb12 uses navy blue and gray
ColorComb 12 uses navy blue and gray.
Vintage Heritage Scrapbook Color Scheme
ColorCombo 29 is a personal favorite.

As you can see, there are a variety of color palettes to choose from. Use these color schemes as a starting place for your next heritage scrapbooking project. There is nothing that says you have to use these suggestions exactly as recommended. I love having a starting point to tweak.

If you’re unsure about which color scheme will work best, play with them on a sample page you create. Check out this post where I Play With Color on a Cover Page to see which combination I personally like best.
